“I was on the verge of losing hope after three flooded seasons. Raised-bed farming gave my family economic dignity and food security.”— Sahana
The Context & Challenge
Monsoon waterlogging consistently destroyed small vegetable plots, leaving marginal farmer families deeply indebted to local moneylenders every harvest season.
Swabhiman Samiti's Intervention
Swabhiman Samiti introduced Sahana to raised-bed onion and winter vegetable farming techniques combined with organic mulching and indigenous liquid manure.
Measurable Transformation & Outcome
Sahana onion harvest survived severe unseasonal rains, generating a net profit of INR 48,000 from just 0.25 acres. Today, her plot serves as a demonstration center for 4 neighboring villages.
