Our Mission
To work with the poor and excluded people in their struggle to eradicate poverty, patriarchy, and injustice.
Swabhiman Samiti's vision is to create an India without poverty, patriarchy, and injustice, where every person has the right to live with dignity. The organization's mission is to work with marginalized and excluded communities to fight against poverty, patriarchy, and social injustice.
To achieve this mission, Swabhiman Samiti focuses on capacity building, advocacy, policy and public engagement, collaboration, partnerships, and network building. The organization aims to empower community members by working in different thematic areas, including livelihood, poverty alleviation, education, health (SRHR, Covid-19 awareness), climate change and disaster risk reduction (DRR), water and sanitation, and women and adolescent rights.
Swabhiman Samiti is based on Gandhian Philosophy, emphasizing non-violence (Ahinsa), local self-governance (Gram Swaraj), and sustainable livelihood (Rozgaar). The organization works against violence, poverty, gender-based violence, climate change, natural disasters, and poor water and sanitation with a feminist and rights-based approach, building youth leadership and advocacy around these issues.
The organization has achieved various milestones in their work, including promoting Farmer's Clubs, providing flood relief, empowering youth, immunizing children, and addressing disasters. Swabhiman Samiti also collaborates with The YP Foundation on the KNOW YOUR BODY KNOW YOUR RIGHTS program, which works to empower adolescents and youth by delivering stigma-free and rights-affirming information on health, sexuality, and human rights.
