Swabhiman Samiti is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2004 with the aim of bringing positive change to the lives of marginalized communities in the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, India. The organization's name, "Swabhiman," means self-respect, reflecting its goal of empowering people to reclaim their dignity and live fulfilling lives.

The organization operates in the districts of Mahrajganj, Kushinagar, and Siddharthnagar, where poverty, gender-based violence, and lack of access to basic services are widespread. Swabhiman Samiti works on a variety of thematic areas, including livelihood, education, health, climate change and disaster risk reduction, water and sanitation, and women and adolescent rights.

One of Swabhiman Samiti's main objectives is to empower marginalized communities through capacity building, advocacy, policy and public engagement, collaboration, partnerships, and network building. The organization works with communities to develop their capacity and leadership skills to effectively address the issues affecting their lives. It also advocates for policy changes and engages with the government, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to promote social justice, gender equity, and sustainable development.

Swabhiman Samiti has implemented various programs and initiatives over the years to support the communities it serves. These include the Farmer's Club program, which promotes sustainable agriculture practices and helps farmers access credit and government schemes; the Know Your Body, Know Your Rights program, which provides adolescents and youth with information on sexual and reproductive health and rights; and the Rojgar Evam Swasthya Adhikar Pariyojna, which aims to provide non-discriminatory access to livelihood and basic health services.

Swabhiman Samiti also works to address disasters and climate change by implementing community-managed disaster risk reduction strategies and promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices. The organization's community health program provides health services to marginalized communities and raises awareness about disease prevention and control.

Overall, Swabhiman Samiti's mission is to create an India without poverty, patriarchy, and injustice, where every person has the right to life with dignity. Through its various programs and initiatives, the organization strives to empower marginalized communities and promote social justice, gender equity, and sustainable development.
