Introduction:
On December 10, 2024, Swabhiman Samiti Training Center hosted a seminar to celebrate International Human Rights Day. The event brought together adolescent girls and women to reflect on the importance of human rights, their historical origins, and how they can be upheld in today’s society.

Objectives:
The seminar was designed to:

• Raise awareness about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its ongoing relevance.

• Educate participants about their constitutional rights.

• Inspire women and girls to become proactive in defending their rights and promoting social justice.

Participation and Activities:

Keynote Address:

Mamta Verma, President of Swabhiman Samiti, spoke about the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, marking a pivotal moment in global efforts to define and protect human dignity.

She highlighted the official recognition of Human Rights Day in 1950, following UN Resolution 423(V), and its call to all nations and organizations to observe the day.

Theme and Discussion:

Vinod Kumar Prajapati emphasized this year’s theme, focusing on ending violence against women and upholding constitutional values.

He urged participants to be aware of their rights and encouraged them to take active steps toward empowering themselves and others in their communities.

Interactive Sessions:

Open discussions allowed attendees to share their personal experiences, learn from one another, and gain insights into how human rights can be protected at the grassroots level.

The seminar inspired participants to stand up against discrimination and violence, fostering a collective resolve to build a more equitable society.
