Introduction
Swabhiman Samiti organized a vibrant celebration on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2026 at its office in Uska Bazar, Siddharthnagar (U.P.). The event aimed to promote women’s rights, gender equality, and empowerment by creating a platform for awareness, expression, and community participation.
The program witnessed the participation of over 250 women and adolescent girls, reflecting strong enthusiasm and collective commitment towards celebrating the achievements and potential of women in society.

Key Highlights
Objective:
To promote awareness on women’s rights, gender equality, and empowerment, and to encourage women and girls to actively participate in education, decision-making, and socio-economic development.
Key Activities:
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Senior Advocate Ms. Pushpa Mishra from the District and Sessions Court, Siddharthnagar, along with advocates Ms. Sana Siddiqui and Ms. Tamanna. This was followed by Saraswati Puja and Saraswati Vandana, setting a respectful and cultural tone for the event.
Mrs. Mamta Verma, Chairperson of Swabhiman Samiti, addressed the gathering and spoke about the history and significance of International Women’s Day. She emphasized the importance of education and freedom for girls, highlighting that empowered and educated girls are better equipped to understand and claim their rights.
A key attraction of the program was a theatrical performance by adolescent girls, which highlighted issues of gender-based discrimination, particularly in access to education. The girls also presented dance and drama performances that conveyed strong social messages and were widely appreciated by the audience.
In her address, Senior Advocate Ms. Pushpa Mishra emphasized the need to change societal attitudes, noting that women themselves often face criticism at the birth of a girl child. She encouraged families to raise girls with confidence, ensure their education, and create opportunities for them to become self-reliant.
Advocates Ms. Sana Siddiqui and Ms. Tamanna also shared their perspectives on women’s rights and empowerment. Social worker Ms. Savita Prajapati highlighted the importance of equality in social, economic, and political spheres and encouraged women to actively engage in income-generating activities.
