“Meet the Experts” Program for Krishak Club Members

To enhance the agricultural knowledge of farmers and introduce them to the latest agricultural technologies, Swabhiman Samiti organized the “Meet the Experts” program for the Krishak Club members. The program aimed to provide farmers with valuable insights into modern farming practices and techniques.

1. Objective of the Program:

The “Meet the Experts” program aimed to:

• Introduce new agricultural techniques and technologies to farmers.
• Educate farmers on important topics like irrigation practices, fertilizer use, pest control, and disease prevention.
• Provide scientific guidance to improve productivity and sustainable farming practices.

2. Program Implementation:

In Khadda and Nebua Naurangiya blocks, Swabhiman Samiti organized a total of 16 “Meet the Experts” sessions, with 34 Krishak Clubs participating in these sessions. The program focused on practical, hands-on learning from agricultural scientists and experts who provided personalized advice to the farmers.

2.1 Topics Covered in the Program:

The experts addressed several critical issues affecting farmers, including:

• Irrigation Techniques: Proper watering methods to ensure crops receive the right amount of water without wastage.
• Fertilizer Usage: Guidance on using the correct amount and type of fertilizers to improve soil fertility and crop yield.
• Pest Control: Advice on integrated pest management (IPM) techniques to prevent crop damage from pests without harming the environment.
• Disease Prevention: Techniques to prevent common agricultural diseases that can harm crops and reduce yield.

2.2 Soil Health and Fertilization:

The experts also discussed the importance of soil health and the negative effects of over-reliance on chemical fertilizers. They emphasized the following points:

• Sulfur (Gandhak) in Soil: The experts explained the role of sulfur in improving soil health and increasing crop production.
• Decreased Soil Organic Matter: Farmers were informed about the impact of soil depletion caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which reduce soil’s organic matter and overall health.
• Soil Testing: The experts emphasized the importance of soil testing to understand nutrient deficiencies and to use the appropriate fertilizers and amendments based on the soil’s needs.
