Krishak Club Program – Orientation and Capacity Building
In the year 2010-11, Swabhiman Samiti, with the support of Purvanchal Gramin Bank and NABARD, established 52 Krishak Clubs across Khadda and Nebua Naurangiya blocks in Kushinagar district. These clubs were officially approved by the Regional Office of NABARD in Lucknow. The initiative aimed at building the capacity of the farmers, empowering them, and facilitating their access to various government schemes and financial services.
- Objective of the Krishak Club Program:
The main objectives of the Krishak Club Program were:
- To create a platform for farmers to come together, share experiences, and address common agricultural challenges.
- To link farmers with banks and government departments, ensuring they receive appropriate services, loans, and support.
- To provide farmers with training and orientation on the benefits of various schemes and their rights.
- To empower farmers to make informed decisions regarding their agricultural practices and financial needs.
- Capacity Building and Orientation Meetings:
To ensure that the Krishak Club members understood the purpose, goals, and responsibilities of the clubs, 16 orientation meetings were held at the grassroots level. These meetings served as a platform to introduce farmers to banking services, government schemes, and other relevant agricultural support services.
- Farmers were introduced to officials from Purvanchal Gramin Bank and other government departments.
- The main purpose of the Krishak Clubs was explained, highlighting the benefits, objectives, and responsibilities of being a part of these clubs.

During the orientation sessions, key announcements were made by Purvanchal Gramin Bank and NABARD officials to ensure better access to services for the farmers:
- Mr. Hariom Agarwal, General Manager of Operations at Purvanchal Gramin Bank, attended the session in Gulharia Regulator, Khadda block, as the chief guest. During his visit, he addressed the issues farmers were facing with the bank and announced the opening of a new branch in Gulharia, aimed at providing better banking access to the local farmers.
