Inauguration and Orientation Program of Farmers’ Clubs
The Farmers’ Clubs Inauguration and Orientation Program was organized at Gulharia Regulator Chauraha, Khadda Block, Kushinagar District by Swabhiman Samiti with the Purvanchal Gramin Bank. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Hariom Agarwal, General Manager Operations-2, Purvanchal Gramin Bank, Gorakhpur, by lighting the lamp. The inauguration ceremony also included the lighting of lamps by Mr. Rajesh Yadav, District Development Manager, NABARD, Mr. Ajit Kumar Srivastava, Regional Manager, Purvanchal Gramin Bank, Padrauna, and Mrs. Mamta Verma, President of Swabhiman Samiti, wishing the continued development and progress of the Farmers’ Clubs.
Program Introduction and Operation:
The program was initiated and conducted by Mr. Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, who discussed the issues faced by the villagers, including land and water levels, crop productivity, and related challenges. He highlighted concerns raised by local farmers such as the unavailability of seeds and fertilizers, lack of knowledge about agricultural techniques, pest issues in crops, and complaints regarding delays in loan disbursal from banks. Mr. Srivastava then discussed the objectives of the Farmers’ Clubs and provided advice on pest control in crops.
Address by Representatives:
- Mr. Vinod Prajapati, Secretary of Swabhiman Samiti, welcomed the guests and provided information about the ongoing programs of the organization. He mentioned the efforts to form a Farmers’ Clubs and have it registered for better coordination.
- Mr. Ajit Kumar Srivastava, Regional Manager, Purvanchal Gramin Bank, Padrauna, emphasized that the Farmers’ Clubs serve as a crucial link between the bank and the farmers. He assured the farmers that whenever the clubs hold meetings, a bank official will always participate.



- Mr. Rajesh Yadav, District Development Manager, NABARD, discussed the issue of continuous pesticide use and its reduced effectiveness due to pests adapting over time. He also addressed the issue of declining yields of leguminous crops, suggesting that farmers near canals should avoid canal water and instead use borewell water for improved production. Mr. Yadav stressed the need for expert consultations and proposed meetings with experts by mid-September to further guide farmers.
- Mr. Hariom Agarwal, General Manager Operations-2, Purvanchal Gramin Bank, Gorakhpur, remarked that the issues in the area are related to awareness, knowledge, and fertility. He expressed that banks require good customers, and he was confident that the Farmers’ Clubs would help provide such customers. He also made an important announcement that if a building becomes available, the bank would consider opening a branch of Eastern Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank in the area for better local convenience.
Closing Address and Vote of Thanks:
At the end of the program, Mrs. Mamta Verma, President of Swabhiman Samiti, thanked all the guests and the gathered community members for their participation and support.

The event saw participation from 34 Farmers’ Clubs and hundreds of villagers.
