Swabhiman Samiti Celebrates International Day of the Girl Child
Introduction
On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child (October 11, 2025), Swabhiman Samiti organized a special awareness program at its office-cum-training center in Uska Bazar, Siddharthnagar. The event celebrated the spirit of girlhood and aimed to promote awareness about girls’ rights, education, safety, self-defense, and empowerment.
Program Overview
The celebration began with an inspiring rally led by adolescent girls holding banners and chanting powerful slogans such as “Beti Hai Toh Kal Hai” (Daughters are our Future) and “Educated Girls, Empowered Society.” The energetic march set the tone for the day, symbolizing determination, unity, and the strength of young girls in shaping a brighter future.
Following the rally, Ms. Mamta Verma, Project Manager at Swabhiman Samiti, welcomed all guests and participants. In her address, she highlighted the importance of the day and the organization’s continuous efforts to promote education, gender equality, and leadership opportunities for adolescent girls in rural areas.
Chief Guest Address
The Chief Guest, Ms. Meera Chauhan (Station Officer, Jogiya Kotwali), delivered an impactful session on self-defense and personal safety. She encouraged the girls to speak up fearlessly against any form of harassment or violence and assured them of the support systems available for their protection.
She also shared essential helpline numbers with the participants:

- 1076 – CM Helpline
- 112 / 100 – Police Emergency
- 1930 – Cyber Crime Helpline
Ms. Chauhan further informed the attendees about the Women Help Desks established at all police stations, emphasizing that girls can approach these centers confidentially to seek help and guidance. Her interaction motivated the participants to be aware, vigilant, and confident in safeguarding their rights.



Special Guests and Participation
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including PC Poonam Gupta, PC Pradeep Upadhyay, and PC Sushila Kushwaha, who expressed their solidarity with the cause of girls’ empowerment. Representatives from the Piramal Foundation – Mr. Satyendra Ji and Mr. Yogendra Mohan Ji – also attended and appreciated Swabhiman Samiti’s continued commitment to adolescent development.
Dozens of adolescent girls, local volunteers, and community representatives participated enthusiastically in the program, sharing their views and experiences on education, safety, and empowerment.
