National Sports Day Celebration under the Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment Project
Introduction
On the occasion of National Sports Day, Swabhiman Samiti organized a vibrant celebration under the Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment Project on 29th August 2025 at the Junior High School campus, Uska Bazar, Siddharthnagar. The event aimed to encourage adolescent girls to participate in sports, promote physical fitness, and highlight the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, confidence, and leadership among youth.
Chief Guests and Dignitaries
The program was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests.
- Mr. Om Prakash Gupta (Block Development Officer, Uska Bazar) attended as the Chief Guest, inspiring participants with his motivational address on the value of sports and discipline in life.
- Dr. S.K. Patel (Superintendent, CHC Uska Bazar) and Mr. Ashok Kumar (Health Education Officer, Uska Bazar) joined as Special Guests, emphasizing the link between physical fitness, mental health, and overall well-being.
Their encouraging words energized the participants and underscored the need for continued promotion of sports among adolescent girls in rural areas.
Sports Competitions and Activities
A series of sports events and races were organized to mark the celebration.
- In the 100-meter race, Nandini, Karishma, and Mahima secured the top three positions, showcasing great speed and determination.
- In the 200-meter race, Anjani, Ragini, and Ritu delivered outstanding performances and earned appreciation from all present.
Additionally, six adolescent girls who had represented their schools and communities beyond block-level competitions were felicitated for their dedication and achievements in sports.
The day was filled with energy and excitement as hundreds of adolescent girls from different villages of the Uska Bazar block actively participated in the games and cheering sessions.



Participation and Collaboration
The event saw wide participation from community members and partner organizations. Representatives from the Piramal Foundation and Bachpan Bachao Andolan attended the celebration and appreciated Swabhiman Samiti’s efforts to promote physical literacy and empowerment through sports.
The Swabhiman Samiti team, led by project staff and field coordinators, ensured smooth coordination of the activities, distribution of prizes, and engagement of participants throughout the day.
