International Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024 Celebration
Introduction:
On the occasion of International Menstrual Hygiene Day, Swabhiman Samiti in collaboration with the Community Health Center Uska Bazar, organized an awareness program at the Swabhiman Samiti office in Sekhui, Uska Bazar. The event aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and address the challenges faced by girls and women during menstruation.
Key Speakers and Sessions:
- The chief guest, Dr. S.K. Patel, Superintendent of Community Health Center Uska Bazar, emphasized the natural occurrence of menstruation. He explained that if menstruation is delayed or irregular, it could lead to various health issues. He urged adolescent girls to immediately consult a doctor if they experience any health concerns related to menstruation. He also discussed the infections that can occur due to poor menstrual hygiene.
Discussion on Menstrual Hygiene Practices:
- Preeti Shukla from the Community Health Center elaborated on the use of sanitary pads during menstruation and emphasized the need for special attention to personal hygiene. She advised the girls on how to maintain cleanliness and take care of their bodies during their menstrual cycle.
Addressing Social Myths:
- Satyendra Ji discussed various social myths related to menstruation, such as the belief that girls should avoid certain foods, activities, or rituals during their periods. He clarified that such practices are unfounded and should not hinder the natural process of menstruation.

Program Coordinators and Participants:
The event was coordinated by Sambhavati from Swabhiman Samiti, with over 150 adolescent girls and women in attendance. Notable figures from Swabhiman Samiti, including Vinod Ji, Mamta Verma, Sambhavati, Suman, Priyanka, and Zarina, also participated in the event.
Conclusion:
The International Menstrual Hygiene Day program organized by Swabhiman Samiti and Community Health Center Uska Bazar was a great success in raising awareness about menstrual health and hygiene.
