HIV/AIDS & TB Awareness Program and Health Camps Organized by Swabhiman Samiti
Swabhiman Samiti has been actively engaged in organizing various awareness and health programs to educate and empower the local community regarding HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB), and general health practices. These initiatives aim to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and improve health awareness in rural areas.
- HIV/AIDS & TB Awareness Program:
On a dedicated day, Swabhiman Samiti organized an HIV/AIDS and TB prevention awareness program in Dharm Purwa for the local community. The objective of this program was to inform the people about the importance of preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and TB, and to educate them on the measures they can take to protect themselves and their families.
- Awareness and Education: The community members were provided with comprehensive information about the transmission, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS and TB. Through this program, people were made aware of the importance of early detection, regular checkups, and maintaining good hygiene practices to prevent these diseases.
- Health Camp: The awareness session was followed by a health camp led by Dr. Kesari Nandan, where medical checkups were conducted for the community members. During the checkups, 7 individuals were suspected of having TB. These individuals were referred to the Community Health Center for further diagnosis and treatment. This proactive intervention helped in the early identification of TB cases, ensuring that those affected received the necessary care and treatment.
- Connecting Communities to Primary Health Centers and Promoting Health and Hygiene:
Swabhiman Samiti organized meetings in 14 Gram Panchayats to raise awareness about the importance of visiting Primary Health Centers (PHCs) for regular checkups and treatment. These meetings emphasized the need for proper healthcare and good hygiene practices, encouraging community members to take proactive steps in managing their health.
- Pulse Polio Campaign: As part of the community outreach efforts, Swabhiman Samiti assisted in the Pulse Polio campaign, ensuring that children from all villages in the working area received their polio vaccination at the nearest health centers. This program helped to increase immunization coverage in the area.
- Vaccination and Folic Acid Supplementation:
- A total of 238 children were provided with regular vaccination cards and vaccinated accordingly.
- 43 pregnant women were vaccinated, and Folic Acid tablets were distributed to ensure maternal health and reduce the risk of birth defects.

- Health and Awareness Camps in Flood-Affected Areas:
In flood-prone areas, such as Vadh Prabhavit (flood-affected regions), seasonal diseases and infections tend to rise due to the stagnation of water and poor sanitation. Many people are unable to afford medical treatment due to financial constraints, further exacerbating the public health crisis. To address this issue, Swabhiman Samiti organized Health Awareness and Medical Camps in collaboration with government health centers and other medical professionals.
- Medical and Awareness Camps:
- This year, Swabhiman Samiti organized 5 health and awareness camps in 4 villages across Uska Bazar Development Block. These camps were supported by the Bhikharpur Health Center, and local doctors from the Government Health Department assisted in providing medical care and distributing medicines.
- These camps were held in the villages of Bhitia, Hathiwad Tal, and others in the surrounding area.
- Outreach and Impact:
- A total of 1132 individuals participated in the health camps, including 550 males and 582 females.
- Medical checkups and immunization were provided to the attendees, with free medicines distributed for common ailments and infections.
- Health professionals also provided valuable information on waterborne diseases, mosquito-borne infections, and preventive measures to avoid them.
- In addition, community members were educated about HIV/AIDS, TB, and other infectious diseases, with special emphasis on prevention and early detection.
- Health Education and Awareness Sessions:
During the health camps, Dr. S.N. Azad, the in-charge physician of Mahulani Primary Health Center, conducted informative sessions for the community. These sessions covered:
- Prevention methods for infectious diseases.
- Importance of sanitation and hygiene in maintaining public health.
- Benefits of regular health checkups and vaccination.
- Government health schemes available for the community, ensuring that people were informed about accessible healthcare options and services.
- Conclusion and Future Plans:
Swabhiman Samiti’s health awareness and medical camps have had a significant positive impact on the communities they serve. These programs have not only helped in addressing the immediate healthcare needs of the community but have also played a crucial role in spreading awareness about the importance of hygiene, sanitation, and preventive healthcare.
Going forward, Swabhiman Samiti plans to continue its outreach programs, focusing on more health camps, educational awareness sessions, and community health initiatives to ensure that rural communities have access to quality healthcare and are well-informed about how to stay healthy and safe.
